Dex Camera - the Language Learning Camera

We have been really enjoying the Dex camera. Our kids range from 10 to 2 and everyone has been able to use and learn from Dex. The program is great for the kids to spend maybe an hour or so learning but not so addictive that they wont take breaks from it. We are a homeschool family and use ours as part of school for the older kids and fun for the littles that are just building vocabulary. The product is great! The levels of learning range from very beginners to advanced so there really is something for everyone!

We Love This! It was exactly what I was looking for…a way to go about our day getting translations. We actually haven’t even used the camera much yet because my three year old loves the stories so much! The stories are wonderful; takes on “the three bears” or about being brave or a good friend. I was even pleasantly surprised by their version of the frog prince because the heroine chooses to be friends and play ball with the frog or not. My daughter is in an immersion Spanish speaking school, and I have to speak Spanish at work, and I wanted something we could use to learn together. Such an awesome learning tool!

This thing is amazing! It's definitely exceeded our expectations, and my kids are loving it.

My kids are using it to learn Japanese. Setup was simple, and the image recognition to find the correct Japanese word works flawlessly. The device itself and interface are super easy for my children to use. I love that it's not just about learning the nouns by the photo that they take -- they also provide a lot of contextual words as well. For example, if I take a picture of scissors, not only does it teach the word for "scissors", but also transitions into related words like "cut".

There are also other built-in modes that incorporate stories, scavenger hunts, etc. to keep the kids engaged while learning languages.

We absolutely love The Dex! As a family of five with kids ages 4, almost 6, and 8, we’ve been searching for a fun way to introduce a second language early on. Growing up in Southern California, bilingualism isn’t just practical; it’s an important part of cultural awareness, which is a core value in our home.

The Dex completely blew us away. It engages all of our kids at once, which is no small feat, and turns language learning into an adventure. They’re running around the house scanning toys, books, and random objects, excitedly shouting out new words in another language. And the best part? They’re doing it independently without us having to guide every step.

It’s the perfect supplement to any language immersion program. It is playful, interactive, and genuinely effective. Learning a language suddenly feels less like a lesson and more like a game, and that’s exactly what we were hoping for.

What a great product this is in expanding their Mandarin vocabulary. Our little one loves to use it during meal times to complement stories in his books, and on road trips to identify new plants, trinkets, and other objects. The wireless connectivity works really well, and its ability to work out what our son is taking a photo of is impressively accurate; which he can then revisit later at night in the form of a flash card game. We love using Dex and it's allowed us to bond even closer through language.
