Like many others, I got an ad for the Dex and assumed it was a gimmick. I've been trying to teach my 3 year old daughter Mandarin and decided to Google the Dex and see what others thought. I was surprised by the good reviews and bought it for her. It actually works. She loves bringing it around taking pictures of everything and learning what they're called in Chinese. It's really amazing. She's learned a dozen words in a week.
As a parent of a neurodivergent toddler, the Dex Camera has become a really helpful tool in our home. My child is still developing language, and this makes learning more natural by connecting words to real-life objects he already loves.
Instead of traditional methods, he gets to explore, take pictures, and learn at the same time. Which keeps him engaged and reduces frustration. I’ve noticed more interaction and attempts to communicate since we started using it.
For us, it’s not just a camera. It's a simple but effective way to support language development in a way that fits my child’s needs.
